The ZERO SUICIDE model of providing care can decrease suicide rates by more effectively identifying, assessing and managing suicide risk. This workshop will address the fundamental aspects of a Zero Suicide approach, including an overview of:

-the core elements of Zero Suicide
-prevalence of suicide from an age, gender, and cultural perspective
-risk and protective factors and warning signs of suicide
-interviewing strategies using the CASE Approach developed by Dr. Shawn Christopher Shea
-Dr. Thomas Joiner’s Interpersonal-psychological theory of suicide
-counseling on access to lethal means
-Stanley Brown safety planning intervention
-risk stratification
-trauma stewardship
