CCBHC is a transformative model of care for a whole health approach.
Manchester, NH – New Hampshire’s community behavioral healthcare system begins an important transition this month, as The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester (MHCGM) and Greater Nashua Mental Health Center lead the way toward a new model of care called Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC).
CCBHCs offer a comprehensive, whole-person approach to care that integrates mental health, physical health, and substance misuse services. This model enables MHCGM to deliver patient- and family-centered care, connect individuals with vital community resources, improve access to all levels of care, reduce wait times, provide 24/7 crisis response, and promote overall health and well-being. Our commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care ensures that patients receive the support they need to thrive.
MHCGM first received funding in 2021 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to adopt the CCBHC model of care, and to begin the process of expanding services and adding needed programs. The CCBHC model has helped The Mental Health Center to offer new services, such as same-day access while building upon MHCGM’s robust continuum of care.
According to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s 2024 CCBHC Impact Report, the CCBHC model serves more than three million people nationally, with 79% of clinics serving more people after becoming a CCBHC. States that have successfully implemented the CCBHC model are seeing improvements in 24/7 access to quality care, workforce capacity, and improved patient outcomes.
President and CEO of The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, Patricia Carty shares, “This prestigious designation recognizes our commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality care. As one of only two centers in New Hampshire to achieve this certification, we are at the forefront of a transformative approach to mental health care delivery.”
MHCGM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is New Hampshire’s largest outpatient mental healthcare provider, serving children, adolescents, and adults in the greater Manchester communities and beyond.
